The 1927 program cover was created by artist Wallace Bassford. The son o fa newspaperman, he was born in St. Louis and went to McKinley High School. In 1919-1920 Bassford attended Washington University's school of Fine Arts. He was also a member of  the St. Louis Artists' Guild. During the 1927 season Charles Lindbergh attended the June 19 performance of The Princess Pat, and later that month Song of the Flame made its world premiere at The Muny.
