1903/2017 St. Louis Riverfront Hybrid-Art Print
In this image, Robert Bullivant digitally transposed a panorama of the St. Louis riverfront from the early 20th century with a panorama of St. Louis 2017. Soaring skyscrapers backdrop the diminutive buildings of a bygone era. The original panorama, taken between 1903-1910, depicted a town on the verge. The age of the steamboat was coming to an end. The Eads Bridge, erected in 1874, was a powerful symbol of railway dominance. Although, much has changed in the last century, the riverfront still encompasses the heart of St. Louis.
