When the Endangered Wolf Center was founded in 1972, several of the wolf species native to North America were on the brink of extinction. Through their dedication, founders Marlin and Carol Perkins were able to provide a safe space for conservation efforts. All Mexican wolves alive today can be traced back to the EWC through Anna, a matriarch that had over 40 pups during her lifetime. MHS is honored to have Anna on display here in our Collected exhibit.

Read about the struggles, laughter, discoveries, international partnerships, and heartwarming stories that unfolded as the Endangered Wolf Center of Eureka, MO helped stabilize wolf populations, rebalance ecosystems, bust myths, and educate the world about these exquisitely sensitive, intelligent animals.
